Is a pain resulting from irritation of the sciatic nerve, typically felt from the low back to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee.

The nerve begins in the lumbar spine in the lower back and extends through the buttock sending pain down the lower limb. Irritation or inflammation of the nerve or even a herniated disc can reproduce these symptoms.

Symptoms – a burning sensation, numbness, or tingling radiating from the lower back and upper buttock down the back of the thigh to the back of the leg.
