For the past 2 years Annette Armstrong, lead therapist and founder of Armstrong Massage Therapy has been working in partnership with the Scottish Karate Governing Body (SKGB).

Annette has been working with some Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire Karate Clubs and nationally with the U21s Scottish Karate team, ensuring that these young athletes are in the best possible shape to compete.

With help from the SKGB and AMT’s own clients and fund raising at Renfrew and Barshaw gala days, Annette has so far managed to fund trips to European and World Championships in Tenerife, Denmark, Austria and Russia. This year will see her travelling to Santiago, Chile for the 2019 World Championships.

Paul Giannandrea, Chairman of the SKGB said “We would like to thank Annette for her solid commitment to our team and national coaches, having Annette around has paid dividends for our athletes, thanks so much… the SKGB are lucky to have you.”

Annette owner and lead therapist said “This has been a great opportunity working with the squad and gaining experience and skills from other massage therapists from across the world. Massage helps reduce muscle tension, and increases range of movement which in turn enhances performance. This allows our athletes to react faster, move with greater flexibility, speed and strength. The Under 21 squad train in stirling and i travel on Sundays to work with the team treating any niggles and keep them fit to compete”.

AMT work with Athletes at all sporting levels, from GB athlete to the once a week runners. Our sports massage therapy aims to alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity and assists in reducing the risk of injury.

For our athletes, AMT develops a regular treatment programme which can be tailored to the individual’s sporting needs, whether it is to improve performance, increase range of movement, muscle flexibility, reduce risk of injury or treat an existing injury, our sports massage therapist can help them reach or maintain that level of performance to help them win.
